Automation Engineer - Netherlands, Leiden - 6 Month Contract

This project provides hands‑on experience with innovative equipment, large‑scale operations, and modern pharmaceutical technologies. It’s an ideal opportunity to build your skills within one of Europe’s fastest‑growing life‑science regions.

What you’ll do:

• Develop, configure, and optimise DeltaV control strategies, modules, phases, and recipes for upstream and downstream bioprocesses.
• Diagnose and resolve automation issues across process equipment, networks, I/O, and control logic.
• Ensure all automation work aligns with GxP, data integrity, and validation requirements.
• Lead automation changes through the full lifecycle: impact assessment, design, testing, documentation, and implementation.
• Integrate DeltaV with MES, historians, SCADA, and equipment PLCs.

What you’ll need:

• Extensive working with Emerson DeltaV in a GMP or regulated environment.
• Experience with upstream (cell culture) and/or downstream (purification) processes.
• Strong understanding of ISA-88 batch control and ISA-95 integration models.
• Hands-on experience with commissioning, qualification, and computer system validation.
• Familiarity with industrial networks, instrumentation, P&IDs, and control system architecture.
