Before joining QCS, I was working in a finance role and knew I wanted to continue developing my career. However, I was looking for a company with a more inclusive, people-focused culture where I could truly grow. My CV was online and I was contacted by a recruitment agency that arranged an interview with QCS's former CEO, Stephen Trigg.
The interview went incredibly well. Stephen and I built immediate rapport and what was scheduled as a standard interview ended up lasting two hours. We shared a similar enthusiasm, strong work ethic and outlook, which made it clear that QCS was the right fit for me.
Not long afterwards, I was delighted to be offered the role of Financial Controller. It was an exciting time to join the business, as it was already clear that QCS had ambitious plans for growth and development in the years ahead.
Fast forward 20 years and I am now the Chief Financial Officer. During that time, the finance team has grown from just one person to a talented department of 15. It's been an incredible journey and I'm proud to have played a part in that growth.
“20 years at QCS - an amazing achievement and one that reflects the huge impact you’ve made. You’ve been at the heart of our leadership team and a driving force behind our growth over the past two decades. Your financial stewardship, judgement and dedication have been critical to our success. Simply the best!
Thank you for everything you do and for being such a brilliant colleague and leader.” – David Broome
One of the things I have always loved about my role is the opportunity to keep learning. QCS is a business that continually evolves, explores new opportunities and embraces growth, which means there is always something new for both me and my team to tackle.
As a company, we have never stood still. This comes with its challenges, but it also keeps us engaged and motivated as we navigate changing financial landscapes, tax regulations and business requirements.
The people are another huge reason I enjoy my role. QCS has stayed true to its values throughout my time here and the company genuinely knows how to look after its employees and recognise their contributions. I also value our office culture, the energy of the team and the strong relationships I've built over the years.
“Happy work anniversary Jackie! It’s been nearly 17 years of working together and it’s been an absolute privilege. Your brilliance as our CFO, combined with your straight-talking honesty and humour, makes you one of a kind. “Princess” says it all, you keep us grounded and laughing in equal measure! Congratulations on 20 years! What an achievement!” – Lauren Potter
Having started as a team of one, one of my proudest achievements is seeing how far both the business and the finance department have come. I've had the opportunity to support the establishment of entities across several international locations, including the USA and Europe. These projects have brought unique challenges, but each one has helped us learn, develop and build on our expertise for the future.
Another proud moment was being awarded Employee of the Year. Receiving an award that recognises your hard work and contribution is incredibly rewarding, particularly within a company of more than 100 employees. It made me feel valued, appreciated and recognised for the effort I had invested over the years.
Since joining QCS, I have progressed through several roles, including Associate Director, then Finance Director before becoming CFO. While each promotion has been an important milestone, what has remained consistent is the respect and support I have received across the business. Regardless of job title, QCS has always fostered a culture where people are valued for who they are and what they contribute.
“Over the past 20 years, Jackie has played a pivotal role in the success of QCS Staffing. Her consistency, precision and deep understanding of the business have helped build a strong and trusted financial foundation. Her attention to detail and stewardship of our financial operations have been instrumental in shaping the business we are today.
Just as importantly, she brings a unique spirit and warmth that has left a lasting impression on everyone she’s worked with. We’re incredibly grateful for her contribution, making her not just a valued colleague, but a true cornerstone of the QCS team.” – Spencer Trigg
One of the key reasons is the stability of the business. QCS has strong values and ethics that are reflected throughout every aspect of the organisation. These foundations have helped build a company that is both respected within the industry and trusted by employees and clients.
Spencer and Dave certainly know how to keep me challenged and there has never been any risk of becoming complacent. Even after 20 years, I continue to develop new skills, take on fresh responsibilities and find new opportunities to grow professionally.
What makes QCS special is that everyone is given the same opportunity to succeed. It's up to each individual how they make the most of the training, support and guidance available to them. Hard work is recognised, opportunities are earned and people are encouraged to progress as far as their ambition can take them.
