Welder – Permanent – Somerset

Responsibilities:
  • Performs successfully all responsibilities of the Code Welder position, maintaining a minimum of 3 weld certifications.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints with detailed drawings and dimension styles.
  • Prepares weld surfaces as required.
  • Sets up, positions and operates hand and power tools such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Checks welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
  • Performs grinding, gouging, chipping operating a grinder, cutting torch, etc.
  • Operates forklift, as needed, according to safe operating procedures.
  • Performs all functions safely and follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Understands and promotes the ISO 9001/2015 culture ensuring that every function and operation happens with high quality.
  • Functions as a team member by assisting supporting and encouraging other employees in any way possible.
  • Demonstrates commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads others to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
  • Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSE team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable.

Requirements:
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Engineering
  • Experienced as chargehand in delivering Boiler Pressure Parts services to a large industrial plant
  • Experienced in the co-ordination of contractors on site
  • Experienced as a leader of HSEQ and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
  • Knowledge of relevant international and national technical standards
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), valid Safety Contractors Certificate or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
