Senior CQV Commissioning Engineer - US, Ohio - 12 Month Contract

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior CQV Commissioning Engineer to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Ohio, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of Utility Commissioning Engineers through installation verification (IV) and operational verification (OV) execution.
  • Develop and review startup logic, handover sequencing, and system turnover packages for utilities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute startup activities including flushing, hydrostatic/pressure testing, chemical cleaning, passivation, and system energization/livening.
  • Interface with construction, QA/QC, and vendors to ensure systems are mechanically complete and ready for commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and permitting processes.
  • Review, author, and execute commissioning protocols, including OVs and SATs, with full documentation in alignment with GMP and project standards.
  • Coordinate vendor support for equipment startup, troubleshooting, and documentation sign-off.
  • Report progress, risks, and issues to project leadership with proactive mitigation planning.
Skills and Experience:
  • Requires extensive direct experience in commissioning/startup of pharmaceutical utility systems (WFI, Clean Steam, Plant Steam, Compressed Air, HVAC, Chilled Water, Process Cooling Water, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience managing field teams during CQV execution on large CAPEX projects.
  • Strong background in system turnover processes (MC, IV, OV, SAT, FAT, PQ support).
  • Proven track record of hands-on execution in the field – not solely office-based or supervisory roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of LOTO procedures, safe system handover, and construction interface.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors and EPCM teams.
