QS/Estimator - Data Centre - London, UK - 12-Months

This is your opportunity to work for a global data centre operator that has been recognised for as one of fastest growing and well-known groups in the industry.

Having received significant investment, this established data centre group is in their next phase of growth and require the expertise of a QS/Estimator. They have established partnerships with many of the well-known technology powerhouses and tailor to their development to their client's requirements.  
 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide various cost analysis, data gathering, and data analytics specific to the cost of work for construction
  • Cost estimating value engineering options at project and program level
  • Develop business case submissions – based upon cost plans
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare/review/comment on time, cost, and labour estimates for projects
  • Perform quantity take-off as a separate validation of contractor pricing in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals
  • Review contractor and subcontractor GMPs and change order estimates
  • Review and implement lessons learned to ensure estimating data is accurate and competitive
  • Review, evaluate and negotiate non-OFCI material quotes as needed
  • Understand and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors / partners
  • Develop tools, templates and metrics for use in cost modelling, benchmarks and top down targets
  • Create cost estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations, at all levels of project development, with heavy focus on conceptual planning and pre-construction phases

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Data Centre experience is preferred, but not required
  • Understanding of all engineering scopes, including electrical, mechanical, structural, and civil
  • Knowledge and experience of technical processes, engineering standards, state and federal codes, analysing data, generating reports for internal and external review and comment
  • Knowledge of and experience using cost/estimating computer applications
  • Experience preparing/reviewing contingency evaluation, durations, escalation, reconciliations for estimates
  • Ability to interpret construction phasing and build management plans, drawings, sketches and specifications
  • Expert knowledge and extensive experience using Microsoft Office software tools, such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word, to be utilised in managing and reporting estimate throughput, status and manpower allocation
  • Travel required is expected to be less than 20% but may increase over time as the business evolves
