2006 was packed with unforgettable moments: the launch of social media giant Twitter, Shakira’s global takeover with Hips Don’t Lie, and the arrival of the Nintendo Wii, which turned living rooms everywhere into makeshift bowling alleys. Movie lovers flocked to see Casino Royale, marking Daniel Craig’s debut as James Bond, while the world debated Pluto’s sudden downgrade from planet to dwarf planet.

But a moment to remember here at QCS Staffing was when Joanna joined what was then a small, ambitious, and rapidly evolving team.

In this blog, we dive into Joanna’s journey, her impact, and the incredible contributions she’s made since stepping through our doors in 2006!

How it Started

Starting in 2006, my resume was recommended to QCS Staffing, where I went for my first interview with CEO at the time, Stephen Trigg. I remember being excited to join a relatively new business that had a lot of growth in store but was also local to me!

I initially joined the company as a Delivery Executive, and before long I progressed into an Account Manager role within telecoms, one of our fastest‑growing sectors at the time. As the business continued to evolve, an opportunity arose to build a Talent Acquisition function to help us bring in even more brilliant people, and I jumped at the chance to lead it.

Things quickly became busy as the company expanded at an incredible pace. I went on to establish our Business Services team while still overseeing Talent Acquisition, which, although challenging, proved just how rapidly we were scaling. Eventually, the demand for new hires grew so significantly that we needed someone dedicated solely to sourcing talent. This allowed me to step fully into leading Business Services and focus on driving that area forward.

“Jo has hit an incredible milestone… 20 years! It’s hard to even know where to begin because that number isn’t just impressive, it’s a huge part of her life and an unforgettable chapter in the QCS story.

Since joining, Jo has taken on seven distinct roles, moved through six major promotions, and collected a string of our most prestigious awards along the way, spanning everything from lifetime achievement to values, energy and overall excellence. And as if that wasn’t enough, she’s also had two kids along the way!

Jo’s progression became even more impressive in 2025 when she stepped into a new chapter as Associate Director of Business Services, a role that suited her perfectly, because by then she wasn’t just supporting the business, she was helping shape it.

But what really sets Jo apart isn’t the job titles, it’s the way she’s achieved them. She’s supported people, built teams, spotted talent, kept everything running smoothly, and done it all with warmth, humour, and unwavering dedication. Many people at QCS are here because she believed in them, backed them, or simply made them feel welcome.

QCS genuinely wouldn’t be the business it is today without Jo. Her impact is everywhere - in the people, the culture, the energy, and the values. She’s given so much over the last 20 years, and the company is deeply grateful for every single one of them.

Here’s to everything Jo has achieved so far and to all the incredible things still ahead. The best chapters are still to come.”

What do you love most about your job?

One of the biggest reasons I love working here is the incredible people I get to work with every day. The team at QCS genuinely shape how I feel about my job, and they’re a huge part of why I enjoy what I do so much.

I also appreciate that, even after all this time, I still feel challenged. Nothing stands still at QCS - things are always moving, evolving, and creating new opportunities for growth. We’re fortunate to have an exceptional L&D team that provides tailored training for everyone, whether it’s to support development within a current role or to help explore new areas of the business.

What is your proudest moment at QCS Staffing?

My proudest moment so far has been stepping into the role of Associate Director of Business Services. It was an incredible opportunity that pushed me in all the right ways, and I’m genuinely proud of meeting the targets that helped shape me into the right fit for the position.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to receive several awards during my time here, with one of the highlights being 2023 Employee of the Year - a recognition that reflects not only my hard work but also the positive impact it has on the people at QCS Staffing.

Another achievement I’m especially proud of is winning the Values Champion award, given to individuals who truly live and breathe our company values. This one feels particularly meaningful because I remember helping to shape those values when we first developed them back in 2014. It’s incredible to see how those principles have stood the test of time and how both myself and others continue to embody them, helping make QCS the exceptional company it is today.

“20 years of Jo! What an achievement and what an incredible 20 years. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jo for over 16 years, and her impact has been nothing short of exceptional. Her work ethic is second to none, she lives by our values every single day, and she consistently goes above and beyond for the business and her team.

She is an excellent leader of QCS, supportive, reliable, and unwaveringly hardworking. Her contributions have shaped so much of who we are, and working with her has not only made my job easier, but genuinely enjoyable. We’ve shared a lot of fun over the years, and I’m grateful for every moment, and proud to say she is not just a colleague, but a true friend.

Here’s to the next 20 years!”

Do you have any words of wisdom for anyone wanting to join QCS Staffing?

A piece of advice for anyone joining QCS, or who has recently started, is to give it everything you’ve got. Whatever your role, throw yourself into it and don’t be afraid of making mistakes - they’re part of the learning process. We offer a wide range of training opportunities, so make the most of each one and absorb as much knowledge as you can.

It’s also important not to be afraid of changing direction or trying something new. Many long‑term employees (myself included) have explored different parts of the business over the years. It’s a great way to make the best use of your strengths and have a real impact on the company.

What do you think is the reason for you staying with QCS Staffing for 20 Years?

One of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed with QCS for so long is the people I work with, I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day. The continuous opportunities for growth have made the past 20 years fly by and kept me engaged, motivated, and excited for what’s ahead. I’m incredibly grateful for the ongoing support I’ve received, which has helped me through challenging moments and made me feel truly valued. QCS is living proof that when you look after your people, they have no reason to want to leave.

It’s scary how 20 years has flown by, so much has changed, I’m incredibly grateful for every opportunity I’ve been given, every person who believed in me, and every bit of support that’s helped me grow.  It’s been an amazing 20 years, filled with hard work, a lot of fun and great memories. Thank you to the people who’ve made these years what they are - I’m grateful for all of it and looking forward to whatever comes next.
