Geospatial Data Scientist - IT - Remote - 6-Months

Our client, an international IT service provider, is seeking a Geospatial Data Scientist to join them as a contractor, with the option to work fully remote or onsite within the charming region of Valencia. Starting at an initial 6-month contract, multiple extensions are expected and there is great, long-term potential.


Responsibilities: 
  • Creation, storage, maintenance, use and dissemination of geospatial data from various sources, including maps, satellite imagery and databases.
  • Ensure the data is accurate, up-to-date, and properly organised within a Geospatial database. This involves data cleaning, quality assurance, data integration and creation of necessary workflows for geo-enriching data.
  • Use advance tools for geospatial visualisation including programming languages and geospatial packages for the creation of interactive maps.
  • Support in the data preparation for the creation of geo-enriched dashboards.
  • Operationalise analytics capabilities, by creating ETL and Data Science workflows for geospatial data.
  • Maintain and update geospatial databases.
  • Manage data storage, perform routine maintenance tasks, and ensure data integrity and security.

Requirements: 
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree/master’s in data science or another quantitative field is preferred.
  • Any Azure certification in Azure (ex: Azure Data Science/Machine Learnin)
  • Any certification in GIS tools
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python and Pyspark
  • Advance knowledge of geospatial packages including Sedona, Geomesa, Mosaic, H3…
  • Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with mapping tools such as Carto, Deck.GL, QGIS and ARCGIS.
  • Expertise in processing, analysing, and modeling within enterprise geospatial software applications as well as open-source software packages.
