Process/Chemical Engineer (Small Molecule) - Pharmaceuticals - 12-Month Contract 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Process/Chemical Engineer (Small Molecule) to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Ohio, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.


Primary Deliverables of This Project:
  • Design and optimize chemical synthesis processes, focusing on reaction kinetics, yield, and scalability.
  • Support crystallization, filtration, and drying operations, ensuring robust and reproducible results.
  • Implement containment solutions for hazardous materials and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide engineering support for solvent recovery systems and waste management processes.
  • Develop and review key documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and improve process efficiencies.

Must Have Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering for small molecule API manufacturing.
  • Expertise in chemical synthesis, including reactor design and operation.
  • Proficiency in downstream operations such as crystallization, filtration, and drying.
  • Experience with containment design for handling potent and hazardous compounds.
  • Strong understanding of GMP compliance and regulatory requirements for small molecule manufacturing.

Nice to Have Experience:
  • Familiarity with solvent recovery systems and waste reduction strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with automated process control systems (e.g., DeltaV, PLCs).
  • Knowledge of scaling up chemical processes from lab to pilot to full-scale production.
  • Experience working with EPCM firms on large-scale capital projects.
