Project Controls Manager (Risk) - US, Illinois - 12-24 Month Contract

Be part of a next-generation pharmaceutical project that’s transforming how medicines are made.

We’re supporting a major new-build facility in Illinois, a multi-billion-dollar investment designed to push the boundaries of science and engineering. We’re looking for a Project Controls Manager to join the team and help deliver this world-class program.

What you'll do:
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the project risk register in alignment with owner governance requirements.
  • Facilitate regular risk identification and mitigation workshops with engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls teams.
  • Quantify risks through probabilistic analysis (cost and schedule) using industry-standard tools (e.g., @Risk,Primavera Risk Analysis).
  • Support the development of contingency and management reserve recommendations.
  • Prepare monthly risk reports, highlighting top risks, trends, and mitigation progress.
  • Collaborate with estimating, scheduling, procurement, and change management to align risk data with cost and schedule forecasts.
  • Ensure lessons learned and risk intelligence are documented and communicated across the program.
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in risk management on large CAPEX projects.
  • Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, semiconductor, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, Monte Carlo simulation tools.
  • Strong facilitation and reporting skills.

What you'll need: B.Sc/B.Eng. degree in engineering discipline, with particular emphasis mechanical or process engineering.Extensive experience from biotechnology or pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing/CQV environment.Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and proactively respond to business needs.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Familiar with Delta-V & Navis Works an advantage.
