Tooling Engineer - Ireland, Dublin - Permanent Contract

Join a high-impact project at the forefront of medical device innovation. Support the design and development of a cutting-edge drug delivery system with a €5 million budget, working in a collaborative environment with the potential for long-term career growth.

The Quality Team is currently operating at full capacity, and the business lead requires an experienced X to support upcoming projects. Given the manager’s limited availability, there will be insufficient time to train or upskill new employees. Therefore, a temporary resource is needed to provide immediate support to the business, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time employee (FTE) role

Responsibilities :

  • Lead technical development and introduction of injection mould tooling for new product launches.
  • Act as liaison between internal teams and clients during tooling design, build, and validation phases.
  • Develop and implement multi-cavity tooling strategies for complex builds.
  • Provide DFM/DFA input during product development to optimise tooling and manufacturing.
  • Support risk assessments (e.g., dFMEA, PHA) and tooling-related feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure tooling quality and timelines.
  • Continuously improve tooling templates, progress tracking, and communication mechanisms.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in tooling development, preferably in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-cavity injection mould tools and hot runner systems.
  • Proven involvement in new product introduction (NPI) and tooling lifecycle management.
  • Background in tooling design, validation, and cost estimation.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and external vendors.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping and metrology development for tooling qualification.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder coordination.
  • Proactive in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
