NPI Plastics Process Engineer - Dublin - Permanent Contract

The Quality Team is currently operating at full capacity, and the business lead requires an experienced NPI Plastics Process Engineer to support upcoming projects. Given the manager’s limited availability, there will be insufficient time to train or upskill new employees. Therefore, a temporary resource is needed to provide immediate support to the business, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time employee (FTE) role

Responsibilities :
  • Lead New Mould Tool Introduction: Oversee FOTs, FATs, and process transfer to production.
  • Develop and optimise Scientific Injection Molding (SIM) processes.
  • Troubleshoot molding and assembly issues during production runs.
  • Document and validate new product processes and tooling changes.
  • Mentor technicians and operations teams in SIM and process control.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO13485, cGMP, and safety standards.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Travel to toolmakers, customer sites, and vendors as needed (10–50%).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or related)
  • Additional certifications in Scientific Injection Molding (SIM), RJG, or Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable
  • Requires extensive experience in plastics manufacturing, ideally within medical devices, pharma, or regulated environments
  • Proven track record in New Product Introduction (NPI), especially involving mould tool development and validation
  • Experience working with ISO13485, cGMP, and FDA-regulated processes
  • Deep knowledge of injection molding, tooling, and polymer materials
  • Hands-on experience with FOTs, FATs, and process transfer to production
  • Skilled in Design of Experiments (DOE), process validation, and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable with travel (10–50%) and working across global teams
  • Strong communicator and technical mentor for operations staff
