Construction Safety Lead - Pharmaceuticals - Ohio - 12-Month Contract 

Our client, a global (bio)pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation, is recruiting for a Construction Safety Lead to join them on their new expansion project. Based in a charming Nordic location, this is on a contractual basis, and will involve significantly growing the sites capacity for the manufacture of Biologics.


Responsibilities:
  • Proactively engage in safety reviews and challenge designs from a safety perspective during the Basic Design phase. Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Play a key role in the budget sign-off process, anticipated by late June/early July, ensuring adequate funding for safety initiatives and protocols.
  • Conduct independent reviews of designs, documentation, and safety standards, collaborating effectively with external partners. Enhance safety strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Preferred experience in Fill Finish processes within pharmaceutical or biotech environments. Familiarity with brownfield project requirements and regulatory standards is advantageous.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate safety measures into project plans effectively. Maintain clear communication channels to address safety concerns promptly.


Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) are desirable.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in construction safety leadership roles within pharmaceutical or biotech industries, with specific experience in brownfield projects.
  • Proven track record of leading EHS/Safety processes through design phases of large-scale projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, etc.) applicable to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Flexibility to occasional travel to other project sites.
