This is a fantastic opportunity for a Automation Engineer to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Illinois, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.
What you'll do:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Specifications (FS), Design Specifications (DS), I/O lists, network diagrams, and interface specifications.
- Author and review CQV documentation (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ protocols and reports) for automation and control systems.
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and user guides for automation systems (PLC, SCADA, MES integrations).
- Translate complex engineering concepts (e.g., skid-based automation, MQTT/UNS data flow, edge gateways) into accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong experience in automation engineering and/or technical writing within pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of skid-based automation and integration approaches.
- Familiarity with MQTT, Unified Namespace, IIoT, and Edge technologies.
- Experience with SCADA/PLC systems such as CODESYS, Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, or Unicon.
