2015 was packed with memorable moments: viral trends like the “blue or gold dress” debate and the rise of “Netflix and Chill,” chart-topping hits from Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber, and blockbuster movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Jurassic World. But a moment to remember here at QCS Staffing, was when Louie Gibbons joined what at the time, was a very small team. In this blog, we dive into Louie’s journey and accomplishments over the last 10 years!

How it all started...

Before starting at QCS Staffing, I had experienced working multiple different roles within finance, however none of the companies I worked for aligned to my goals and values. During my onboarding at QCS, I initially spoke with Jo and Jackie, back when interviews were far less formal than they are now, about the role of Trainee Accounts Assistant! We spoke for a while and shared our interests, giving a good insight into each other’s personalities. After meeting with more of the team, such as Dave and Stephen, I was drawn to how comfortable I had felt in my interview and was interested in their ideas going forward to grow the company.

Now fast forward 10 years, I currently own the job role of Associate Director of Finance! I knew from my first interview the potential that QCS Staffing had to develop and grow, and it has been amazing to have been a part of this step by step.

What I love the most about my job

As I’m sure most of my colleagues will agree, one of the best parts about working at QCS Staffing is the people. This is a company where everyone really is happy to help, no matter what the question or problem may be. Work environments are important and can really shape the enjoyment of your role, so having friendly faces around the office is super beneficial.

Another point to mention is that everyone that works at QCS Staffing has a strong understanding of our goals as a company. This means that working as ‘one team’ comes naturally - as essentially, we are all trying to achieve the same goal. Despite your position or experience, you are constantly pushed to be better than you are and offered new ways to grow - whether this be long term goals or tackling small problems day by day.

Louie, congratulations on an incredible 10 years with QCS Staffing!

Your financial acumen has been a cornerstone of our success, and your commitment—often staying late to get the job done—speaks volumes about your dedication.

Of course, we’ll never forget those legendary short shorts in Portugal—an image burned into company history! And let’s not forget the ultimate QCS perk: meeting your future wife here.

Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the business (and the laughs along the way)!

My proudest moments at QCS Staffing

Whilst every milestone and achievement has been a moment to be proud of, I am extremely proud of my most recent promotion to Associate Director of Finance. I love working alongside the other Associate Directors and seeing what difference we can make to the company.

One of my proudest projects would have to be the implementation of ‘InTime’, our online timesheet system, which future proofed our Pay & Bill function,  automated several manual and time consuming processes and enabled us to provide an even greater service to our contractors and customers.

Alongside this, I am extremely proud of my team and how we have developed over the years. Starting with no one, to now having an amazing team of 4 people is something to be proud of and gives an insight into how teams within QCS are constantly evolving!

Wow, I cannot believe it’s been 10 years Louie since you joined QCS and you have been truly amazing.  I have always seen you as my right hand man and you are always willing to go that extra mile to get the job done – you have truly developed in your time here and are an inspiration for anyone starting their career as a trainee and progressing to an Associate Director of Finance.

Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary Louie and I look forward to what the future brings for you.

Words of wisdom

In my opinion, one of the most valuable skills to master is time management. Being in control of your own time allows you to be more focused and driven to hit targets and best prepares you to work with others. Within finance, deadlines are crucial, but I do feel as though time management is a skill that is valued in any job role.

With time management in mind, keeping yourself organised is very important in the workplace, both for the well-being of yourself and how your organisation may affect others in your team. I often refer to the saying ‘when you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail’ which shows that if you don’t take time to plan or prepare properly before starting something, you’re setting yourself up for failure.

There are so many opportunities to grow and develop here at QCS Staffing, so it’s important to make use of these and those around you, asking as many questions as possible along the way!

Finally, I would like to say thank you to everyone at QCS, old and new, for making QCS such an enjoyable and rewarding place to work. I am extremely grateful to QCS for enabling me to not only grow in my career but also in my personal life. It has been fantastic to be part of the journey QCS has been on over the past 10 years and I am really excited to be part of what is next!
