Senior Mechanical Engineer - Belgium - 12-month contract

Responsibilities:
  • Translate client requirements into technical designs for equipment, piping, and mechanical components.
  • Execute conceptual designs and basic engineering (layout, calculations, equipment selection).
  • Investigate and propose technical solutions for specific project needs.
  • Provide input for HAZOP risk analyses and ensure measures are implemented in designs.
  • Participate in procurement activities from inquiry to delivery, including FAT and SAT.
  • Prepare budgets and contribute to project planning for your discipline.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and provide technical support during execution and startup.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal clients and external contractors.
  • Coordinate and ensure quality of internal/external designers during detailed engineering.
  • Archive documents and maintain accurate as-built technical files.


Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electromechanics) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing process equipment installations in an industrial environment.
  • Strong technical skills in calculations (heat/mass balances, pump and pipe design, steel structures, equipment design).
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D design software (AutoCAD; other tools a plus).
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Well-organized, structured, and autonomous with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; team player and decisive leader.
  • Proficient in office software packages.
  • VCA certification (mandatory).
  • Language: Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written); basic German and French is a plus.
