Project Controls Director - US, Iowa - 24 Month Contract 

Be part of a next-generation pharmaceutical project that’s transforming how medicines are made.

We’re supporting a major new-build facility in Iowa, a multi-billion-dollar investment designed to push the boundaries of science and engineering. We’re looking for a Project Controls Director to join the team and help deliver this world-class program.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish mechanism to track project costs with spend/commitment monthly reports, change/risk management, monthly cashflow forecasts, project savings compared to budget estimates, and internal transfers of costs.
  • Confirm the final overall budget for the project by working with the Project Management Team for detailed cost analysis.
  • Develop and implement the project schedule using Primavera P6, including WBS development, logic ties, and resource-loaded schedules aligned with project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define baseline schedules and project milestones.
  • Align cost control and schedule structures (CBS/WBS) for seamless integration
  • Manage the overall project budget and ensure compliance with processes.
  • Follow industry best practices for cost controls and scheduling.
  • Utilize the existing Corporate Engineering template (Excel Spreadsheet) or create alternate reporting tools to maintain a project forecast (commitments, actual cash flow and forecast); interface with vendors and site personnel to understand invoicing schedules and schedule impacts.
  • Develop understanding of Standard Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and integrate with schedule structures; manage and monitor custom CBS within the Excel Spreadsheet.
Skills and Experience:
  • Requires extensive working experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Controls professional on very large construction programs.
  • Experience setting and leading project controls teams.
  • Strong background in project scheduling and planning using Primavera P6.
  • Significant experience and strong problem-solving skills in project & program management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with internal and external project stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for project controls, cost control, and scheduling.
  • Experience with capital delivery processes including procurement, forecasting, change management, and risk analysis.
  • In-depth working knowledge of MS Excel for cost and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset for process improvement and planning accuracy.
