Design Manager – Permanent Contract – Milan, Italy - Data Centres

Our client is a provider of vital systems, they own and manage high quality properties and large data centres throughout the globe - that are critical to the digital economy!

As providers of essential infrastructure for the digital economy, they have grown to become a large owner of powered sites all over the world. They are currently seeking a Design Manager to join their team based in Milan.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams (CSA, MEP, Fire Protection, Security and IT systems) to deliver high-quality, cost-effective data centre design solutions.
• Manage external consultants, engineering firms and contractors throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring design compliance, quality, constructability and adherence to programme deadlines.
• Oversee design development from concept through RIBA Stage 3 and support contractor design activities during detailed design and construction phases.
• Drive stakeholder engagement, design reviews, value engineering initiatives, risk mitigation and sustainable design strategies, including ESG, BREEAM and LEED objectives.

What you’ll need:

• Degree qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Building Services, Civil or related discipline).
• Extensive experience delivering data centre projects with a strong focus on MEP and multidisciplinary design management.
• Proven experience managing consultants, contractors and complex stakeholder environments within hyperscale or colocation data centre developments.
• Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure, RIBA project stages, construction regulations, design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks) and Italian/European compliance requirements.
