Our client is a leading developer in the industry, owning and developing projects across all major and emerging offshore wind markets. They are now recruiting with a superb new opportunity for a Port Engineer to join them on an initial 4 month contractual basis. This position is a home based role, which may require some travel to offices/ports where necessary.
With a significant track record of successfully delivering projects and a vast project pipeline across the UK, Europe and emerging international markets, this is an incredibly exciting time to join them in their current project.
Responsibilities:
- Assess port infrastructure and its suitability for offshore wind projects.
- Identify and sense check needs for port upgrading works such as quay reinforcement works, seabed strengthening for jack-up vessel and enhancement of ground bearing capacities.
- Define, develop and review port logistics concepts and contracts.
- Review technical as well as contractual documents related to the tendering and selection process of marshalling ports.
- Support preparations of Port Design / Upgrade Scope of works
- Engineering Degree or equivalent in the field of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related areas
- Professional experience in the field of civil/structural engineering, including:
- Structural analysis of quays for different load combinations including checks of bending moments, anchor forces, deformations
- Bearing capacity calculations
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards
- Interest in project management and its interface to engineering
- Ability to balance technical and commercial interests and a sound understanding of business concepts
- Use of AutoCAD or equivalent software
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
- Intercultural communication and negotiation skills
- Strong team player, self-starting and highly motivated
- Fluent spoken and written English
