HVAC SME - 12 month contract - North Carolina

Our client, A global CDMO in pharmaceutical manufacturing providing process development and cGMP production in cell culture, microbial fermentation, and gene therapies.

With continued organisational growth and a considerable amount of investment across the portfolio and capital programme.

They are seeking the expertise of HVAC SME

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for this HVAC SME role include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Act as the client’s agent to review and approve submittals from the A&E in respect of HVAC and equipment designs.
  • In early Design Phases provide guidance to the A&E on HVAC/Mechanical concepts.
  • Ensure focus on the projects sustainability ambitions.
  • Ensure site wide coordination of HVAC/Mechanical design solutions.
  • Review and approve HVAC specifications, HVAC install specifications.
  • Assist in determining best main HVAC routes and HVAC route philosophy for the facility, assist with HVAC clash detection via 3D model throughout the design phase. Assist with system boundary definition for ease of commissioning.
  • Review and participate in 3D model reviews of facility and large equipment modules, work with master planners in assessing degree of HVAC progress. Review space coordination and equipment routing plans into the facility during construction phase. Participate in constructability reviews with site construction team
  • Review SOW for tendering of HVAC and mechanical packages
  • Develop HVAC handover package requirements with CQV team.
  • Assist in review of selected contractor submittals and tendering advice in relation to the submittals from the main contracting engineering firm.
  • Facilitate and provide oversight of the reviews on and after the transition phase between Engineering Designers and HVAC Contractor at 60% design phase.
  • Assist site construction teams and project controls teams and in respect of the HVAC and mechanical works ongoing on site.
  • Ensure acceptable quality of design and installations.
  • Drive progress and coordination to ensure schedule, cost and quality targets are met.
Desirable Experience:
  • 15+ years, with primary focus in pharmaceutical / healthcare applications.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced green/brownfield project team a plus.
Desirable Knowledge and Skill:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment including but not limited to: air handlers, exhaust systems, duct sizing/routing, controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable local, state, and national HVAC codes and guidelines.
  • Advance knowledge of HVAC GEP (Good Engineering Practice) principles and how to apply in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences including senior management, coworkers, contractors and vendors.
Desirable Software knowledge;
  • Proficient at NavisWorks for 3D model review
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs
