Responsibilities:
- Support Engineering Team and Operations EHS Team for Pre-Start-up Safety Review and commissioning activity on new process lines.
- Resource, support and/or lead H&S continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure implementation of effective processes for conducting regular inspections, audits, and assessments of the project site and operations to monitor H&S effectiveness and to identify areas for improvement.
- Development of processes to manage safety risks related to interfaces between project activities.
- Ensure effective provision of H&S training, communication, and awareness to the project staff and contractors on topics such as accident prevention, hazard identification, emergency response, chemical management, waste management, etc.
- Ensure that incidents, accidents, near misses, or non-conformities that occur on the project site are reported and investigated, and that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as clients, regulators, suppliers, subcontractors, etc., on H&S matters and ensure timely and accurate reporting of H&S performance and plans.
- Resource and lead a team of H&S personnel to support the project as the owner’s representatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related field will be an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EHS management in a project environment, preferably in the same or similar industry sector as the project.
- Complete knowledge of applicable H&S laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proficient in using H&S software tools and applications.
- Certified or eligible for certification as a professional H&S practitioner by a recognised body.
- Track record of success in building a safety culture and enhanced safety capability among employees and contractors.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish.
