Grid Connections Engineer - Energy - London

Do you want to be a part of creating innovative renewable solutions - the smart future of green energy? Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy company committed to developing, building, and operating innovative renewable energy hubs, and they are looking for a Grid Connections Engineer for their London based project.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist in finding potential new sites across the UK for deployment of solar, wind, storage, or other opportunities across the distribution and transmission network
  • Preparing and advising on grid applications to DNOs and NGESO
  • Analysing grid offers and working with the network operators and external grid advisors to mitigate risks and achieve cost efficient grid connections
  • Identify and vet emerging technologies and techniques to optimise grid connections and ensure they comply with distribution and grid codes
  • Assisting with feasibility studies for Private Wire connections, including behind the meter set up, route to export, and grid capacity studies
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies on existing and future connections
  • Assisting with project valuations and supporting due diligence on acquisition opportunities and project sales
  • Monitoring and communicating changes in legislation and policies that impact the business
  • Representing the Grid Connections team at industry events
About you:
  • Electrical engineering background with electrical or engineering degree qualification (Masters preferred) or relevant experience
  • Worked within the energy industry for at least 3 years , with direct experience in managing
  • grid connections for type B-D generators (from a developer, network operator or other role with significant exposure to the process from application to operation) preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of power system studies, distribution and/or transmission network operations preferred
  • Renewable energy experience preferred
  • Very organised, with an ability to autonomously manage multiple highly technical projects at the same time and meet individual targets
  • Self-starter willing to work within a small and agile team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Desire to help develop and grow a core function within the company
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
